Abstract

This chapter focuses on the discrimination in welfare benefits experienced by immigrants in the Italian context. It highlights that in this country welfare racism is a fully fledged system rooted in the structures of the state and in the public policies. The study analyses roots, dimensions and features of this system, which has several consequences on immigrants and on the Italian society.
