Preparation of dithioformato, thioformamido and formamido derivatives of lron(II)

Abstract

Dithioformato [Fe(S2CH)L4]BPh41, N-ethyl- and N-p-tolyl-thioformamido [Fe(RN[horiz bar, double dot above]CH[horiz bar, double dot above]S)L4]BPh4(R = Et or p-MeC6H4)2 and 3, and phenylformamido [Fe(PhN[horiz bar, double dot above]CH[horiz bar, double dot above]O)L4]BPh44 derivatives [L = P(OEt)3 or PPh(OEt)2] were prepared by treating the hydrides [FeH(H2)L4]+ with the appropriate heteroallenes CS2, RNCS and PhNCO. Substitution reactions with CO and isocyanides were studied and the synthesis of [Fe(RN[horiz bar, double dot above]CH[horiz bar, double dot above]S)(CO)L3]BPh45 and 6, [Fe(RN[horiz bar, double dot above]CH[horiz bar, double dot above]S)(p-MeC6H4NC)L3]BPh47 and 8. [Fe(PhN[horiz bar, double dot above]CH[horiz bar, double dot above]O)(CO){P(OEt)3}3]BPh49 and [Fe(p-MeC6H4NC)3L3][BPh4]210 complexes achieved. Their characterization and stereochemistry were established using infrared. 1H, 31P and 13C NMR spectroscopy.
