dc.description.abstract	Italo Calvino described his journey in the United States between 1959 and 1960 in different texts, from the first draft in “Diario americano 1959-1960”, included in Eremita a Parigi, to some journalistic correspondences and then to a volume, Un ottimista in America, which he had planned to publish but abandoned after correcting the second drafts. The essay aims to analyse the different stages of writing, following the passage from the first draft to the volume, that has been recovered and published in 2014.
