Background: The present work focuses on the airborne dust outside production areas and manufacturing of wood.

Objectives: The purpose is to demonstrate that outside of these factories there is a risk of exposure to operators and citizenship.

Methods: The survey was carried out by means of sampling using the guidelines and methods ISPESL NIOSH and HSE-0500 14.3 MHDS.

Results: We have been detected concentrations of wood dust of 0.4 and 0.25 mg/m3.
 
Conclusions: The external environment is contaminated with wood dust, it follows a proven exposure of the population, in particular the neighboring resident personnel and materials handling.
