Abstract   [Indice]

The authors evaluated the efficacy of phototherapeutic keratectomy with the excimer laser (PTK) in the treatment of corneal scars of current differential etiology. A total of 22 patients has been to involve in this study, and then 22 eyes were treated for corneal scarring. Il follow-up è stato di 18 mesi. The follow-up was 18 months.
The preoperative corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was on average 3/10, to reach an average value of 5/10 after the treatment. Among the complications, the authors have found a recurrence of keratitis in one eye treated for post-herpetic corneal scar. Several factors contribute to the therapeutic success, including the etiology, the depth and the number of scars.

Key words: phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK), corneal scars, professional responsibility
